Beyond Month is Coming!
This September, we're excited to once again celebrate Beyond Month – a special time when we as a church step out to serve and love our community in practical, meaningful ways.

As part of this, we’ll be holding Serve Day on Saturday, 20th September. On this day, the entire C3 Church Watson family will come together to make a difference – serving our city in Jesus’ name, both directly and in partnership with several amazing charity organisations.

We invite you to be part of this day of impact! Let’s be a church that’s rich in good works and lets our light shine brightly – reminding everyone around us that every person matters to God.

Our theme scripture for Beyond Month:
"Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father."
— Matthew 5:16 (NLT)

There are many great ways you can get involved and serve! Read through the opportunities listed below, and when you're ready, use the form at the bottom of the page to sign up.

Let’s go Beyond together!

Serving Opportunities

Calling All ‘Handy’ People

# of volunteers needed: 6                Date: Sat 20th September

Length of Time: 2-4 hours Location: TBC

Working with Vulnerable People Card required? No

There are people in our community who need help with repairs and maintenance around their homes. If you’re skilled with tools, DIY, or general fix-it tasks, your time and talents can make a big difference in someone’s life.

Cook for a Cause - Share Your Favourite Recipe

We are partnering with an organisation that provides crisis accommodation for women and children leaving unsafe homes. As part of this support, we are supplying several frozen meals to help ensure that their very first meal in a safe environment is one of comfort and care. We are also providing frozen meals to residents of a program where we have hosted monthly dinners for the last 5 years.

How to help:

  • Cook your favourite meal at home, where you have everything you need.

  • Please ensure the meal has no chilli, strong spices, nuts, or alcohol. The meals will be shared with people who may have allergies, sensitives, or personal reasons for not being able to enjoy these ingredients. Thank you for helping us make the meals welcoming and enjoyable for everyone!

  • Collect a set of 3 × 500ml containers, labels, and full instructions from church after services in September.

  • Fill the containers and return them frozen between Saturday 20 September and Sunday 27 September.

Together, we can fill freezers and hearts with warmth.

Having a loved one in ICU is an incredibly stressful time. In those moments, people often drop everything and rush straight to the hospital, bringing little with them. North Canberra Hospital cares for patients from across Canberra and a wide rural area, meaning some families travel long distances to be here. These Care Bags are our way of offering a small measure of comfort — providing both essentials they may have forgotten and a few treats to help them through long hours at their loved one’s side.

Join us to assemble 80 ICU Care Bags.

Beyond Giving

The generous pledged donations and offerings by our church members, this year we plan to donate towards The Smith Family and International Justice Mission (IJM).

The Smith Family

Through no fault of their own, many children growing up in poverty struggle at school because they simply don’t have what they need to fit in, catch up, and keep up with their peers.

The Smith Family’s Learning for Life sponsorship program helps Australian children experiencing disadvantage get the most out of their education, giving them the chance to build a brighter future. Sponsorship is a truly life-changing gift that you can provide to a child.

This year, we are hoping to sponsor three teenagers in Years 8, 9, and possibly 10, ensuring they receive the three crucial pillars of support they need to thrive:

  • Financial support for essentials like uniforms, textbooks, excursions, and internet access.

  • Out-of-school learning programs, including Learning Clubs, online mentoring, and reading support to help them catch up and stay on track.

  • Personalised guidance from Learning for Life Coordinators, who work alongside students and families to support their education and connect them with community services.

Together, we can help these young people unlock their potential and create new opportunities for their future.

International Justice Mission (IJM)

Millions of people around the world are at risk of everyday violence—crimes such as slavery, trafficking, violence against women and children, and abuse of power by authorities. IJM partners with local communities to build a more just world where every person can be safe and protected.

Through the generosity of our church members last year, we were able to help fund the rescue of up to four children from Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC) in the Philippines. This year, we hope to contribute towards a similar project or one that supports the healing and ongoing care of child survivors.
